| Description |
English: A midwinter view of the Konza Prairie from the overlook point on the Nature Trail. Featured here are the characteristic lines of shrubbery that commonly trace the outcrop of the Cottonwood Limestone in the Flint Hills in Kansas, USA, which is the source of water in streams below. The easiest identified outcrop lines in the photograph are the line across the left center where boulders of the limestone can be seen and the closest line below left to right across the picture. Trees and scrubs fill the streams and ravines, and lesser amounts of shrubs are seen marking other limestone aquifers higher on the slopes; but thick Cottonwood Limestone shrubs lines are seen lower on the slopes on the other side of the valley. |
